Trincomalee Port handles three vessels at once for the first time

For the first time in the history of the Trincomalee Port, three vessels were engaged in operations at the Ashroff Jetty on May 29, it was reported.

According to Trincomalee Sri Lanka Ports Authority Resident Manager Sarath Kumara, the vessel AAL BANGKOK carried out operations at one berth, unloading five wind turbines destined for the Mannar wind power plant. 

At another berth, HAI LONG 1 handled 17,000 tons of construction steel rods brought from Dubai for re‑export. 

Meanwhile, UNIWELL discharged 55,000 tons of coal imported from Indonesia for INSEE Cement Company at a separate section of the jetty.

Sarath Kumara confirmed that this was the first occasion three ships had simultaneously arrived, anchored, and carried out operations at the port. (Newswire)
