Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Sujeewa Senasinghe claimed today that the government was facing a worsening economic situation and predicted that the US dollar, currently trading at around Rs. 338, could rise beyond Rs. 360 within the next five months.
Addressing Parliament, Senasinghe alleged that the current administration had “mismanaged” the situation and warned of a difficult economic period ahead.
He also took aim at President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, claiming that the President would seek support for a national government within the next four months.
“Anura Kumara is saying not only I cannot do the job, but even my people cannot do it,” Senasinghe said, while predicting that a national government proposal would emerge in the near future. (Newswire)
