Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra will undertake an official visit to Ankara, Türkiye, from October 26 to 28, 2026, to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in foreign employment, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism and air connectivity.

During the visit, Hemachandra is scheduled to hold discussions with senior Turkish government officials, including the deputy ministers of foreign affairs, labour and social security, trade, and culture and tourism.

Exploring employment opportunities for Sri Lankan workers will be a key priority, with particular emphasis on ethical recruitment and worker protection.

Two bilateral instruments are scheduled to be signed during the visit: a Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation and a protocol amending the Air Transport Agreement between Sri Lanka and Türkiye to strengthen air connectivity.

Hemachandra will also engage with the Ankara Chamber of Commerce to explore opportunities for expanding trade, attracting investment and strengthening partnerships between businesses in the two countries.

The visit forms part of the Sri Lankan government’s broader efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy and diversify international partnerships. (Newswire)
