Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath held a meeting with members of the Sri Lankan community in Melbourne, Australia, where he discussed issues faced by Sri Lankans living overseas and outlined the Government’s ongoing and future initiatives.
According to Herath, the event was organized by Sri Lankans residing in Melbourne and drew a large turnout at the Springvale Town Hall.
The Minister said the discussion provided an opportunity to listen to concerns raised by members of the Sri Lankan diaspora and to explain the progressive decisions taken by the current Government, as well as its plans for the future.
He also expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in the Government by Sri Lankans living abroad and assured participants that efforts would be made to uphold that trust.
Herath noted that the strong attendance reflected the interest among overseas Sri Lankans in the country’s future direction.
