A 52-year-old officer attached to the Special Task Force (STF) camp in Katukurunda has died by suicide after reportedly shooting himself with his service firearm while on duty, Mawbima newspaper reported.
Police suspect a personal reason may have led to the officer taking his own life.
Kalutara South Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
