
The National Dengue Control Unit of Sri Lanka states that 13,590 dengue patients and 4 deaths have occurred during the past two months in 2026.
As of yesterday (03 Mar), a total of 13,943 dengue patients have been reported in Sri Lanka.
According to Community Medical Specialist Prashila Samaraweera, the highest number of patients, 7,055 (50.6%), was recorded from the Western Province.
She further emphasized that an increase in the spread of dengue patients has been observed in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Matara, Galle, and Ratnapura.
Specialist Prashila Samaraweera noted that 7,866 dengue patients were reported in January this year, 5,724 in February, and 353 during the first three days of March.
She added that if fever persists for more than two days, one should immediately seek medical attention. (Newswire)
