Sri Lanka have been handed a 20-0 defeat in their final Asia Rugby Emirates Men’s Championship 2026 fixture against South Korea after the match was cancelled due to the national team’s inability to secure travel visas in time.
Asia Rugby announced today that the match, scheduled to be played at the Namdong Asiad Rugby Stadium in Incheon on Saturday (13), will not go ahead.
Under the competition regulations, South Korea will be awarded four competition points and the fixture will be officially recorded as a 20-0 victory for the hosts.
Asia Rugby said Sri Lanka Rugby, the Korea Rugby Union and the regional governing body had explored several options to facilitate the fixture, but the visa process could not be completed within the required timeframe.
The governing body also confirmed that, after reviewing the international rugby calendar, travel requirements, venue availability and team commitments, there is no suitable window available to reschedule the match within the 2026 competition cycle.
The championship featured two matches before the cancelled fixture, with Hong Kong China edging Sri Lanka 15-14 in Colombo before defeating South Korea 45-9 in Hong Kong.
Those results secured a seventh consecutive Asia Rugby Emirates Men’s Championship title for Hong Kong China.
Asia Rugby said the official standings will be updated to reflect the awarded result and any further decisions will be communicated through its official channels. (Newswire)
