Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing three-wheelers belonging to people who had brought patients to the Galle National Hospital and selling the vehicles in other areas.
The Galle Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested the two suspects and recovered three three-wheelers that had allegedly been stolen and subsequently sold.
The suspects, aged 41 and 53, are residents of Maha Induruwa and Ambalangoda.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects allegedly targeted three-wheelers parked within and around the hospital premises. Police said the colours and parts of the stolen vehicles had been altered before they were sold to other individuals.
The suspects were produced before the Galle Magistrate’s Court and remanded until October 5.
