The Ambatale flood control barrier has begun to overflow as water levels of the Kelani River continue to rise rapidly, Colombo District Secretary said today.
According to officials, the situation presents a significant risk to surrounding low-lying communities, prompting an urgent evacuation order for residents in the Malabe–Kaduwela stretch and adjacent vulnerable areas.
