
The Sri Lanka Police has announced traffic restrictions in view of the 151st Annual Procession of the St. Sebastian’s Church in Moratuwa, which is scheduled to take place today (20 Jan) and commence this evening.
The Police state that the procession will begin at St. Sebastian’s Church, Moratuwa, and proceed along Old Galle Road, St. Peter’s Lane, New Galle Road, Moratuwa Bus Stand, Weera Puranappu Raja Mawatha, and Joseph Road up to the Cross Junction, before returning to the church via Old Galle Road.
Accordingly, motorists and the public travelling through the area are requested to use the following alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion expected from 4.00 pm today until 1.00 am tomorrow.
The alternative routes are as follows;
* Vehicles travelling from Colombo to Panadura may turn left at the Moratuwa–Katubedda Junction, proceed towards Piliyandala, and continue to Panadura via Bandaragama.
* Vehicles travelling from Panadura to Colombo may proceed from the Panadura Clock Tower Roundabout via Panadura North – Keselwatte, continue along the Old Galle Road, and turn right at the Moratuwa Cross Junction towards Colombo.
* When the procession enters the New Galle Road, the lane heading towards Colombo will be temporarily closed. During this period, a single lane will be maintained for traffic moving towards both Colombo and Galle. (Newswire)
