Two beaches in Sri Lanka — Mirissa Beach and Bentota Beach — have been listed among Asia’s top coastal destinations in the 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches rankings published by Tripadvisor.
Mirissa Beach placed fifth on the list, while Bentota Beach secured the seventh position among beaches across Asia.
Tripadvisor states that the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best recognition represents its highest honor in travel. The award is presented to destinations that receive a high volume of outstanding reviews and ratings from users over a 12-month period. Fewer than one percent of more than eight million listings on the platform earn this recognition.
“Mirissa Beach is a lively spot known for its beautiful sandy shores and crystal-clear waters. Great for both relaxation and adventure, you can swim in calm waters near the rock formation or ride the waves in the central area. Surfers can find the classic ‘Mirissa Right’ on the western side. As the sun goes down, the beach comes alive with restaurants serving up fresh seafood. Be sure to check out the view from Coconut Tree Hill and catch the sunset,” it said.
Meanwhile Bentota Beach, on the island’s southwest coast, is recognised for water-based activities such as jet skiing and kitesurfing.
“This is a wonderful spot in Sri Lanka for water sports, whether that’s jet skiing or kitesurfing. The soft white sand is also great for catching some sun or ambling along the shore. Travelers say the sunset here is not to be missed,” the list said.
