Sri Lanka remain in a strong position to qualify for the ODI Tri-Series final despite Pakistan securing their place in the title decider following a thrilling one-wicket victory over England in Lahore on Sunday (October 25).

According to the latest points table, Pakistan lead the standings with six points from three consecutive victories, while Sri Lanka occupy second place with two points from two matches.

England are at the bottom of the table, having lost all three of their matches.

Sri Lanka need just one victory from their remaining two matches to secure a place in the final.

Sri Lanka’s next match will be against Pakistan on Tuesday, October 27, followed by their final group-stage match against England on Thursday, October 29. Both matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Even if Sri Lanka lose both matches, they could still qualify depending on net run rate (NRR).

Pakistan currently have an NRR of +0.949, followed by Sri Lanka at -0.348 and England at -0.733.

Pakistan’s dramatic victory over England, inspired by Shadab Khan’s century and an unbeaten 89-run 10th-wicket partnership with Haris Rauf, has strengthened Sri Lanka’s qualification prospects.

The Tri-Series final is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. (Newswire)
