
The low-pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal will likely continue to move slowly west-northwestwards towards the Tamil Nadu coast close to Northern Sri Lanka in the next 24 hours, according to the Department of Meteorology.
As such, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Northwestern and Western provinces today.
Fairly heavy showers of about 75mm are likely at some places in the Northern province, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere during the evening or night.
Misty conditions can be expected in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Uva provinces in the morning.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Newswire)
