Five suspects, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the fatal shooting of a relative of underworld figure Kanjipani Imran, Police said.
The arrests are linked to the shooting that took place on Aug. 10 along Sangharaja Mawatha in the Kotahena Police Division.
The Colombo North Divisional Crime Investigation Unit arrested a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from Colombo 15 on Aug. 17 over allegations that they assisted in the crime.
Police said the pair were also found in possession of 25 grams and 840 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine, known as “Ice.”
In a separate operation, the Colombo District Crime Division arrested three more suspects, aged 19, 25 and 28, from Mattakkuliya, Dompe and Mulleriyawa.
Police said the three suspects were found with 12 grams and 380 milligrams of Ice, while a motorcycle suspected to have been used in the shooting was also taken into custody. (Newswire)
