
Sri Lankan athlete Ayomal Perera has won the silver medal in the men’s 400m hurdles event at the Asian Under-23 Athletics Championship in China while setting a new Sri Lankan national record.
Perera clocked 49.03 seconds to break the 26-year-old Sri Lankan record for the men’s 400m hurdles.
The previous national record of 49.44 seconds was held by Harijan Ratnayake, who set the mark at the Asian Athletics Championships held in Jakarta on August 31, 2000.
Perera’s performance improved the national record by 0.41 seconds. (Newswire)
