Actor-turned-politician Vijay has won both Perambur and Trichy Assembly seats on TVK ticket in a big debut victory.
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder made a strong entry into electoral politics in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.
C Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has won 25 seats so far and is leading in over 80 seats, emerging as the single-largest party in Tamil Nadu.
With this, TVK has registered a stellar performance in its very first electoral contest.

TVK dedicates victory to Karur stampede victims
TVK functionary Aadhava Arjuna said that today’s verdict is a revolution after 50 years of DMK-AIADMK rule.
“DMK was the main reason for 41 lives being killed in Karur. Misinformation was spread against our party that it couldn’t even win 10 seats,” he said, adding that the incoming government will be for women and youth.
“We dedicate this historic victory to the families of the 41 people we lost in Karur. This victory of our leader Vijay, and of our candidates, is because women saw him as their son, their brother, their family—an emotional, trustworthy leader. They saw all our candidates as part of their own families. That is why today Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has achieved a massive victory,” said Aadhava Arjuna, TVK leader.

Vijay leads TVK surge as party crosses 100-seat mark
As per the latest update from the Election Commission of India, TVK is leading in 103 seats in Tamil Nadu, strengthening its position as the frontrunner in the state.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is leading in 67 seats, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is trailing with 38 seats.
One of the most talked-about developments is actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, whose party TVK is showing a strong performance in early trends. In the Perambur constituency, Vijay is leading by a margin of 5,865 votes over DMK’s R.D. Shekar after the second round of counting.

TVK announces plans to form government without support in Tamil Nadu
Actor Vijay’s TVK is leading in 88 seats, leaving behind AIADMK and DMK in second and third spot, according to the early leads.
Reacting to the trends, TVK leader Felix Gerald said “We are confident that we will win… We are very happy.. We expected this result only.”
Gerald attributed this ‘win’ to the need for a change.
“Our leader Vijay speaks directly to the people of Tamil Nadu. Hence, it works out,” he added.

Actor-politician Vijay led early trends in Perambur but trailed in Tiruchirappalli East on counting day, setting up a split verdict in the two DMK-held seats he chose as the launchpad for his electoral debut.
Perambur, Assembly constituency no. 12, sits in North Chennai under the Chennai North Lok Sabha seat. With around 2.22 lakh voters, it is one of the city’s most visible urban segments and a traditional arena of Dravidian politics.
