Opposition MP Shanakyan Rasamanickam has alleged that a young man, reportedly taken by force and assaulted, was found dead in the Muthaiyankattu tank.
Quoting local residents, Rasamanickam said four youths were taken to the Muthaiyankattu army camp under the pretext of collecting scrap metal, where they were allegedly assaulted. One of them fled but later went missing, and his body was recovered from the tank.
He claimed the incident was a test for the government to prove if it would ensure justice or protect impunity. (Newswire)
