Rajasthan Royals have made a significant reshuffle of their squad, releasing the Sri Lankan duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana, along with Fazalhaq Farooqi, among the overseas players.

On the domestic front, Akash Madhwal, Ashok Sharma, Kunal Rathore, and Kumar Kartikeya have also been released, with Madhwal having the most IPL experience, primarily with Mumbai Indians.

Hasaranga and Theekshana joined Rajasthan Royals during the 2025 IPL mega auction held in Jeddah. Hasaranga was acquired for ₹5.25 crore, bringing a wealth of T20 experience with his leg-spin and handy lower-order batting. He had previously represented Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Theekshana, a crafty spinner known for his variations, joined from Chennai Super Kings, where he had played 27 matches and taken 25 wickets.

Both spinners were crucial in RR’s 2025 campaign, finishing as joint highest wicket-takers for the franchise. Their release signals a strategic reshaping of the team’s spin department ahead of IPL 2026.
