Sri Lanka Cricket has reportedly lined up six T20 Internationals in January 2026 as part of its preparations for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, according to an Expression of Interest (EOI) issued for terrestrial television broadcasting rights.

The matches will be played across two inbound tours, with Pakistan scheduled to play a three-match T20I series from January 8 to 12, followed by England’s three-match T20I series from January 30 to February 3. In addition, England will also contest a three-match ODI series during their tour.

While the Pakistan series is yet to receive official confirmation, Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed the England tour, with an announcement on Pakistan’s visit expected once final arrangements are completed.

Most of the T20Is are expected to be staged in Dambulla, as the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy are set to undergo renovations in preparation for the T20 World Cup.

The six T20Is will form a crucial segment of Sri Lanka’s short-format build-up, offering competitive exposure against two top-tier opponents ahead of the global tournament.

Sri Lanka enter this phase following a disappointing run in T20Is, having lost five matches in a row after topping their Asia Cup group with three consecutive wins.

Sri Lanka have also been reportedly placed in Group B of the T20 World Cup alongside Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman. The tournament is scheduled to begin in February and will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
