Afghanistan will join Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a Twenty20 International Tri-Nation Series to be hosted in Pakistan from Nov. 17 to 29, the Afghanistan Cricket Board said Saturday.

The tournament will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium under a double round-robin format. Each team will face the others twice, with the top two advancing to the final on Nov. 29 in Lahore.

The series is expected to serve as key preparation for all three teams ahead of next year’s ICC tournaments, offering competitive match practice against full-member opponents.

Pakistan will open the series against Afghanistan on Nov. 17 in Rawalpindi. Afghanistan will then meet Sri Lanka on Nov. 19, followed by Pakistan taking on Sri Lanka in Lahore on Nov. 22. The group stage will conclude with three more matches before the final.

This will be Afghanistan’s first multi-nation series since the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they reached the semifinals. Sri Lanka and Pakistan also view the series as part of their rebuilding phase with younger squads expected to feature. (Newswire)
