Two individuals travelling on a motorcycle were killed in a head-on collision with a lorry on the Hingurana–Damana main road, police said.
The accident occurred at the Paranegama bend. According to police, the two vehicles collided while travelling in opposite directions.
The victims, aged 22 and 20 and residents of Akkaraipattu, sustained critical injuries in the crash. They were rushed to the Damana Divisional Hospital by area residents but were pronounced dead on admission following medical examination.
Police said the lorry was travelling from Damana towards Hingurana at the time of the accident, while the motorcycle was heading in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.
The injured lorry driver is currently receiving treatment at the Ampara Hospital. Further investigations are underway. (NewsWire)
