The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who physically punish or psychologically abuse children based on their Grade 5 Scholarship Examination results.
The warning follows the release of the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination results.
The ministry urged parents and guardians to refrain from punishing children or subjecting them to psychological abuse because of their examination performance.
It also cautioned media organisations and social media users against publishing or circulating content related to examination results in a manner that could embarrass, distress or cause discomfort to children.
The ministry said such conduct could constitute offences relating to child abuse and warned that the maximum possible legal action would be taken against those responsible. (Newswire)
