Sri Lankan fast bowler Lahiru Kumara is facing a potential setback as he is likely to miss the upcoming Asia Cup due to a side strain injury.
Earlier, Lahiru Kumara had to cut short his participation in the World Cup qualifiers in June due to an injury. However, he managed to recover and even participated in a few matches in the Lanka Premier League for the Galle Titans.
In addition to Kumara’s uncertainty, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera are also raising doubts about their availability for the tournament due to their own injuries.
Adding to the challenges, two other Sri Lankan cricketers who are part of the Asia Cup squad tested positive for COVID-19. Despite this, they are expected to recover in time for the first game.
While Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials remain optimistic about the recovery of both players, there is some uncertainty surrounding their readiness for the series.
