Showers are expected in several parts of Sri Lanka on Thursday (20), while fairly strong winds of up to 40 kmph are also forecast, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers will occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers are expected in the North-western Province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2 p.m., while mainly dry weather is expected elsewhere.
Fairly strong winds of around 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills and in the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces, as well as the Trincomalee and Matale districts.
The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
