Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya met with Shohei Hara, Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and his delegation at Temple Trees to discuss Sri Lanka’s development priorities and future cooperation with Japan.
The meeting also brought together Harshana Suriyapperuma, Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, as both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic collaboration.
During his visit, Mr. Hara also held discussions with Ms. Sanda Ojiambo, United Nations Assistant Secretary‑General and CEO of the UN Global Compact, focusing on sustainable development and partnerships to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
JICA Sri Lanka confirmed that Mr. Hara will travel across Sri Lanka to meet communities and inspect key projects, including the Water Supply Development initiative in Anuradhapura and the Doppler Weather Radar Network establishment in Puttalam.
The Agency added that these engagements reaffirm JICA’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s sustainable growth, resilience, and prosperity. (Newswire)
