A murder case involving a young businessman allegedly killed by his fiancée and her alleged lover has shocked India after investigators claimed the death was initially disguised as a trekking accident.
According to Indian media reports, 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. The incident was first treated as an accidental fall during a trek.
However, police later arrested Agarwal’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, accusing them of conspiring to kill him. Investigators allege the pair had made multiple earlier attempts before the fatal incident.
The case gained national attention after police said CCTV footage showing a man wearing a hoodie in 33-degree Celsius heat helped uncover the alleged plot. Authorities say the footage led them to identify Chaudhary and pursue a deeper investigation.
Reports said Agarwal, a director of a Pune-based real estate business, had been due to marry later this year. Police allege the accused attempted to make the death appear accidental before inconsistencies emerged during the investigation.
The accused have been arrested and the case remains under investigation. (Newswire)
