Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has praised Sri Lankan cricket legends Aravinda de Silva, Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas following an interaction with the former cricketers in Colombo.
Singh, who is in Sri Lanka on an official visit, said the three former players had earned the admiration of millions of cricket fans in India through their performances.
“Delighted to interact with the Sri Lankan cricketing legends, Aravinda De Silva, Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas in Colombo,” Singh said in a social media post.
“They have been admired by millions in India for their exceptional performances,” he added.
The meeting brought together three prominent members of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning generation. De Silva and Jayasuriya played key roles in the tournament triumph, while Vaas was also a member of the World Cup-winning squad.
