
Admiral Steve Koehler, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, toured the Sri Lanka Navy offshore patrol vessel P628 during its scheduled port visit to Coast Guard Base Honolulu on April 3.
During the visit, Admiral Koehler met with Sri Lanka Navy leadership to discuss maritime security cooperation and stressed the importance of enduring partnerships in maintaining a Free and Open Indo‑Pacific.
P628, formerly the U.S. Coast Guard medium endurance cutter USCGC Decisive (WMEC 629), was officially transferred to the Sri Lanka Navy in a ceremony held at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore on December 2, 2025.
The U.S. Pacific Fleet highlighted the visit as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime collaboration and regional security. (Newswire)
