Sri Lanka, China to strengthen Agricultural Cooperation

Sri Lanka and China have moved to deepen cooperation in the agricultural sector, following discussions on Monday (14) between Agriculture Minister K. D. Lal Kantha and Chinese Ambassador Wei Huaxiang. 

In a statement, MInister Lal Kantha said that the talks centered on expanding collaboration in sustainable farming and modern technology to boost productivity.

Special focus was placed on greenhouse‑related sustainable agriculture, with the introduction of applications designed to manage farming activities digitally. 

Ambassador Huaxiang noted that China is prepared to extend the necessary technical assistance to Sri Lanka, while expressing his willingness to maintain stronger coordination between the two countries.

Minister Lalkantha stressed the importance of addressing key areas such as fertilizer, post‑harvest technology, and livestock development at the official level in future discussions. (Newswire)
