A Navy soldier was arrested along with a T56 firearm during a joint operation by the Navy and Kuliyapitiya Police in the Ilukhena area early this morning (16).
The operation, conducted at a house in Galpola Colony, Ilikhena, led to the discovery of the firearm, which had gone missing in 2021 from the armory at Colombo Harbor’s Ranwala Camp, where the suspect had been in charge.
Following the arrest, the soldier was taken to the Welisara Naval Base for further inquiries before being handed over to Kuliyapitiya Police for additional investigation. (NewsWire)
