A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in Dehiwala with over 5,000 drug pills valued at more than Rs. 500,000, the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau said.
Police said Rs. 134,000 in cash, believed to have been earned from the illegal drug trade, was also seized during the raid.
The suspect, a resident of a two-storey house in Dehiwala, was arrested following a complaint that she had been selling drug pills. During the search, police recovered the stock hidden inside a wardrobe.
Investigations have revealed that the woman had previously been arrested in connection with heroin possession.
She is due to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court, while further inquiries are underway by the Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau. (Newswire)
