
Sri Lanka has won the “Best Foreign Award” among 53 participating countries at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Fair (Surajkund Mela) held in Haryana, India.
Sri Lankan batik artist Iresha Chinthani de Silva secured the award, representing the country at the exhibition, which was held from Jan. 31 to Feb. 15. The annual event brought together skilled artisans from around the world.
De Silva’s creations, showcasing the excellence of Sri Lankan batik craftsmanship, received international recognition, leading to the award.
De Silva and the Sri Lankan delegation returned to the island on Sunday.
Officials representing the National Crafts Council and the Ministry of Industry welcomed them on arrival. (Newswire)
