
In a landmark event for Sri Lanka’s classical music scene, the acclaimed Gustav Mahler Orchestra of Colombo returns with ‘මතක තනු 2’ (Melodic Memoirs 2) on Saturday, 28 March 2026, at the Lionel Wendt Theatre. This eagerly awaited concert promises a unique and immersive experience, bringing together Sri Lanka’s beloved pop repertoire with the depth and grandeur of a full symphony orchestra.

For the first time, Sri Lankan pop sensation WAYO joins forces with the Gustav Mahler Orchestra of Colombo and the Ceylon Quartet, creating a musical experience unlike any other in the country. Timeless Sri Lankan pop favourites are reimagined through the power and emotion of a full Western classical orchestra, with masterful arrangements by the Gustav Mahler Orchestra’s Concertmaster Darshana Amarasinghe, and conducted by Chief Conductor Maestro Srimal Weerasinghe.

From golden era favourites to modern pop hits, audiences can look forward to an unforgettable symphonic celebration of Sri Lankan music. The performance showcases an exceptional line up of performers, offering an experience that bridges generations and genres, and brings Sri Lankan music to life in a fresh, sophisticated setting.
