Retired Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama has stepped down from his position as Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka (Private) Ltd., the Ministry of Ports and Aviation said on Wednesday.
Abeywickrama was appointed to the post in October 2024.
Following his exit, Ministry Secretary W.W.S. Mangala has been appointed Acting Chairman to oversee the duties of the position.
The ministry did not provide further details on the reasons for Abeywickrama’s resignation. Some media reports have suggested the move may be linked to a disagreement with the subject minister, but there has been no official confirmation.
Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka manages key aviation infrastructure in the country, including Bandaranaike International Airport and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport. (Newswire)
