A British national was honored in Parliament on Tuesday for her courageous response during the recent bus accident on the Ella–Wellawaya road.

Amy Victoria Gibb received special recognition from the Ministry of Tourism for providing critical assistance to passengers injured in the accident on September 5. Officials said she stepped forward at the scene, offering medical help and comfort to those affected until emergency services arrived.

Deputy Minister of Tourism said the ceremony, held at the Parliament complex, was a gesture of gratitude on behalf of the Sri Lankan people. “Her selfless actions remind us that humanity knows no borders,” he noted, adding that Ms. Gibb’s compassion and courage saved lives during a moment of crisis.

The ministry said the recognition highlighted the role of ordinary individuals who rise to extraordinary challenges, and reflected Sri Lanka’s appreciation for the spirit of global solidarity. (Newswire)
