President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed retired Justice Vijith Malalgoda as the new Chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL).
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), S.Y.M. Gomes, A.L.A. Azeez, S.S.S.B.D.H. Jayawardena and Professor T. Jayasingam have been appointed as members of the Commission.
The letters of appointment were handed over to the newly appointed Chairman and members by Secretary to the President Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (30).
The PMD stated that the appointments were made to fill vacancies created following the expiration of the terms of office of the previous members of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
