New Sri Lanka Honorary Consul appointed in Adelaide

High Commissioner Yasoja Gunasekera has officially handed over the Commission of Appointment to Dimuthu Samaranayake, the newly appointed Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka in Adelaide, with consular jurisdiction covering South Australia. 

The ceremony took place at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canberra.

According to the High Commission, Samaranayake is a project management professional in the mining industry and has been actively involved in several Sri Lankan community associations in Adelaide.

Congratulating him on the appointment, High Commissioner Gunasekera emphasized the importance of strengthening Sri Lanka’s engagement with South Australia, particularly in advancing trade, investment, and tourism opportunities.

Samaranayake expressed his commitment to providing effective consular services to the approximately 10,000-strong Sri Lankan community in South Australia, in close cooperation with the High Commission in Canberra and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne.

This appointment is expected to further enhance Sri Lanka’s ties with South Australia and support the community’s needs while promoting bilateral cooperation. (Newswire)
