The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency has announced a series of overseas job opportunities under a concession scheme, offering positions in Japan and the Middle East in addition to those already available in South Korea and Israel.
Agency Chairman Ananda Lal Hettiarachchi told the media that 2,000 jobs are currently available in airport construction projects in Dubai, with applicants able to secure employment quickly at a maximum cost of Rs. 150,000.
He added that a further 800 supervisory positions are open, with expenses capped at Rs. 180,000, stressing that these amounts are all‑inclusive.
In addition, Sri Lankan degree holders can apply for zero‑cost employment at a wellness centre in the UAE, with all expenses covered by the organization itself.
Hettiarachchi noted that the agency is working with three companies in Japan. Under a pilot project, 23 students have begun training in Sapugaskanda through a memorandum of understanding with a Japanese construction firm. The company is funding training in both technical skills and Japanese language, with plans to expand job opportunities further.
The agency has also signed an agreement with Japanese firm Meta Techno, opening pathways for ICT graduates with basic Japanese language proficiency.
Meanwhile, another Japanese company has offered 1,000 jobs for school leavers as truck drivers, requiring applicants to hold a light‑vehicle licence and Japanese language skills. The agency said it will assist candidates in obtaining these qualifications if needed.
