Former JVP MP and one-time presidential candidate Nandana Gunatilleke has passed away at the age of 64 while receiving treatment at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, family sources said.
Gunatilleke was a prominent political figure who entered Parliament representing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and later contested a presidential election as the party’s candidate. In later years, he joined the United National Party (UNP).
He remained active in political and public discourse for several decades. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. (Newswire)
