The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber level Advisory for Rough Seas covering the sea areas extending from Negombo to Galle via Colombo, valid until 1:00 a.m. on October 15.
According to Bulletin No. 12 issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 4:30 p.m. today (14), thundershowers are expected off the coast along the Negombo-Colombo-Galle belt.
During these thundershowers, temporarily strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 60 to 70 km/h are likely, accompanied by very rough sea conditions.
The department has urged naval and fishing communities operating within these waters to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. (Newswire)
