Veteran Sri Lankan singer Mariazelle Goonetilleke has passed away at the age of 68, family sources confirmed.
She died while receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Hospital on Friday, according to family members.
Mariazelle Goonetilleke was one of Sri Lanka’s most popular singers, best known for her hit song “Kandy Lamissi” and a music career spanning several decades. She performed in Sinhala, English, Tamil and Hindi, earning a loyal following both in Sri Lanka and among overseas Sri Lankan communities.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family. (Newswire)
