A complaint has been lodged to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) seeking a fresh probe into the aircraft crash at Gregory Lake, amid claims that the Civil Aviation Authority’s investigation report is contradictory and fails to adequately address the pilot’s qualifications.
The complainant has asked the CID to conduct an independent investigation into whether the pilot involved in the crash was properly qualified to operate the aircraft, particularly as a seaplane pilot.
The complainant has questioned how the pilot obtained clearance to operate the aircraft and has urged authorities to examine the certification process and training standards that led to the pilot being assigned to the flight.
He also challenges a report issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, describing it as contradictory and unsigned.
He argues that although the report refers to the pilot’s total flight hours, it does not specify the pilot’s experience in operating seaplanes, which he says is a critical requirement.
The complainant further alleged that authorities may be withholding information related to the incident and reiterated his belief that pilot inexperience, rather than weather conditions alone, led to the crash. (NewsWire)
