Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath concluded a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he held talks with senior UAE officials on expanding bilateral economic cooperation.
During the Sept. 2-3 visit, Herath met UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar and Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in investment, trade, tourism and labour, while exploring new opportunities for economic engagement between the two countries.
Herath also held discussions with UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi at the Sri Lanka Day event in Dubai, where he expressed Sri Lanka’s interest in expediting the conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries.
The second edition of “Sri Lanka Beyond Your Dreams,” organised by the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Dubai, brought together about 400 representatives from government, business, tourism, trade and the diplomatic community.
On the sidelines of the visit, Herath met senior executives of UAE-based EMAAR Group and invited the company to explore investment opportunities in Colombo Port City, with discussions also covering real estate development.
Officials from Sri Lanka’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Consulate General in Dubai and relevant government institutions participated in the engagements. (Newswire)
