CoPF approves two Supplementary Estimates & a Resolution

The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) has considered two supplementary estimates and a Resolution during a meeting chaired by MP Harsha de Silva this week (02 Sept).

Accordingly, the COPF considered the Supplementary Estimate of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs in detail, which consists of the utilization of the provisions allocated under the budget proposal to provide essential food items at a concessionary price during the new year period for providing a nutritional food package to expectant mothers.

The Parliamentary committee also considered the Supplementary Estimate of the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction and Housing for settling unpaid bills by the China EXIM bank for the Kandy North Pathadumbara Integrated Water Supply Project and for the completion of the remaining work of the project.

The COPF approved both the Supplementary Estimates following the relevant discussions.

Meanwhile, the Resolution on the agreement between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments was also approved by the Committee following discussions.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Members of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake, Rauff Hakeem, Kaushalya Ariyarathne, Harshana Rajakaruna, Sunil Rajapaksha, Lakmali Hemachandra, and Nishantha Jayaweera. (Newswire)
