The Court of Appeal today issued an interim injunction preventing the enforcement of a notice by the Director of Coast Conservation ordering the removal of a restaurant located on the Wellawatta seashore.
The injunction will remain in effect until September 21, temporarily halting the directive that had been issued to dismantle the establishment.
The order was made after the Court considered submissions presented by President’s Counsel Faiszer Musthapha, who appeared on behalf of the restaurant in a petition challenging the removal notice.
Speaking to the media, the attorney representing the restaurant stated that Beach Wadiya Pvt Ltd has filed a writ petition with the Court of Appeal, claiming that the Beach Wadiya seaside restaurant in Wellawatta is not an illegal construction.
He noted that the Court’s interim injunction, preventing enforcement of the removal notice, will remain effective for 14 days until September 21. (Newswire)
