Rathna Group owner Maithripala Lankeshwara has shared an emotional account of his journey from humble beginnings to importing what is widely described on social media as one of Sri Lanka’s most expensive vehicle — a Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II.
In a lengthy social media post, Lankeshwara said the luxury SUV was not a symbol of sudden wealth, but the result of years of sacrifice, disciplined management and hard work.
He recalled starting out in a remote village from a modest family background, working at a small rice mill and later developing his business gradually despite numerous challenges. He also shared a personal memory of taking his wife to hospital in a lorry when she was due to give birth, as he did not own a vehicle at the time.
“That lorry is shown here — 27 Sri 8182,” he wrote, reflecting on the early hardships he faced while building his enterprise.
Lankeshwara said owning the Cullinan today gives him “innocent happiness,” describing it as the outcome of perseverance and goal-oriented effort rather than chance.
In his message directed at young people, he urged them to set clear goals, avoid unlawful or socially harmful activities and work patiently toward success.
“If you can one day bring down the next most expensive vehicle to this country, remember that I will be the first person to be happy for you,” he said. (Newswire)
