A judge of the Puttalam Quazi Court has been arrested for obtaining a bribe of Rs. 5000.
According to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), he was arrested and presented before the Puttalam Magistrate’s Court.
The Puttalam Quazi Court judge was, thereafter, remanded until May 06, 2024.
The Bribery Commission revealed that the Quazi Court judge was arrested based on a complaint made by a female resident of Vettalai, Puttalam.
The Puttalam Quazi Court judge is reported to have solicited the bribe to hand over documents of the court’s verdict related to a divorce case. (Newswire)
