
Police have arrested three individuals in the Araawa Karandagahamada area with four elephant pearls they had prepared to sell for Rs. 20 million, it was reported.
The suspects, aged 49, 31, and 29, are residents of Bibila, Matale, and Bakamuna.
According to the Police, the raid was carried out yesterday (22) by officers of the Special Police Task Force Hali Ela Udawara camp, acting on information received and deploying a decoy.
Four pieces suspected to be elephant pearls were seized from the suspects’ possession.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Araawa Police Station and are scheduled to be produced before the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate’s Court. (Newswire)
