The Horana Urban Council has been postponed for 14 days due to a dispute among members of the United National Party (UNP), it is reported.
The Dinamina newspaper reported that a UNP council member of the Urban Council had previously resigned from his position on the 01st of July.
As such, the Election Commission appointed a new member to fill the vacancy in the council.
However, during today’s council session, both the newly appointed member and the previously resigned member were present.
It is reported that the resigned council member has now withdrawn his resignation and requested to reclaim his position.
In light of the resulting dispute, the Chairman of the Urban Council has decided to postpone council proceedings for 14 days. (Newswire)
