Over 88,000 affected by dry weather across six districts

More than 88,000 people have been affected by prevailing dry weather conditions across six districts, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).

The DMC said 88,068 people from 27,475 families in 28 Divisional Secretariat divisions have been affected.

Drinking water is being distributed to 86,368 people from 27,048 families in 27 Divisional Secretariat divisions.

Monaragala has the highest number of people receiving drinking water, with supplies being provided to 37,890 people from 11,751 families.

In Batticaloa, drinking water is being supplied to 28,523 people from 9,547 families, while 8,847 people in Ampara and 8,383 in Badulla are also receiving supplies.

The DMC said drinking water is also being distributed to 2,646 people in Polonnaruwa and 79 people in Ratnapura. (Newswire)
